When I travelled in Australia it was easy to tell the North Americans backpackers from the Europeans. All it took was asking someone how far away something was. If the answer was ‘far, it takes ages to get there, almost an hour in the car’ they were usually European. They aren’t wrong. I feel like an hour by car is fairly close. All a matter of perspective.
